Tori and Alex’s love story
It started September, 2012 at BYU-Idaho in a photography class. The first day of class I sat next to a handsome, brown haired, greed eyed, twenty-three year old return missionary. I introduced myself, not realizing that this guy would become my best friend. It didn’t take long for me to fall in-love with Alex Orme. He asked me on our first date to a ukulele concert by recording a video of him singing and playing the Ukulele. I replied with a video dancing and singing in return.
Those two videos started our love for making videos. Over the next two and a half years we captured our fun times together, and apart. I never would’ve guessed that my love for Alex would grow more being away from him than together. I left for Jerusalem, January 2013 for a four month study abroad, and then on my mission that same year in June.
Alex always encouraged and supported me going on a mission. He wrote me every week of my mission, even when I didn’t have time to reply some P-days. I just couldn’t believe that he would actually wait for me. I thought that for sure some beautiful girl would snatch him right up. It wasn’t until the last four months of my mission that something changed. One day, it just hit me. I was sitting at my desk one morning thinking about all of the thoughtful, kind things Alex had done for me over the past two years. I was overcome with a feeling of deep gratitude and love. Alex came to my homecoming, and drove all the way from Pocatello, Idaho to Eugene, Oregon. Thirteen hour drive. Once I saw him get out of his red pick up truck and walk up my drive way, it was as if we’d never been apart. Now fast forward two months and we still have to do the long distance thing, with Alex working full time in Pocatello at Idaho Central Credit Union and me going to school in Rexburg. But I’ve learned more about Alex than I could have these past two years through letters and e-mails. I love him more each day and I’m so grateful he’s my best friend.
